All things being equal, most telecom agents and channel sales partners prefer to propose hosted VoIP and voice, Internet & data network solutions from the biggest provider they can find to make it easier for the customer. (No one ever gets fired for choosing AT&T or IBM, right?)
Unfortunately though, "all things" are rarely "equal" - and Transbeam agents have been capitalizing on this sort of deal inequality to beat the biggest East Coast carriers like Broadview, PAETEC, XO and One Communications since 1996 in New York City, Boston and across the United States.
Who is Transbeam? They're a managed enterprise voice, Internet and data solutions provider based in New York City that specializes in Ethernet over Copper ("EoC") and lightning quick T-1 installs (2-weeks or less in NYC or Boston & 30-days or less throughout the rest of the US).
Since TA's job is to introduce you to the vendors you need to know about before meeting them in an unpleasant way - like when you loose a big deal to them because you didn't know to lead with them - we present the following "TA Introduces Transbeam" audio recording with Nat Silverman, the Account Management Director for Transbeam.

0:00 Introduction
1:14 What are Transbeam's top three "Sweet Spots" where you're beating your competitors both big and small?
Our metro Ethernet over Copper and our circuit installation delivery time in New York City our our two biggest sweet spots. In New York City we deliver in under two weeks and no other provider in the city is able to beat us on installation times.
Out third sweet spot is beating most any carrier nation-wide in installation time of T-1 voice, data or Internet circuits. Where other carriers are quoting 45 to 60 days, Transbeam is installing circuits in under 30 days.
Other sweet spots include our ability to quote both hosted VoIP solutions (managed PBX) and premise-based solutions (IP-PBX). No matter what kind of business phone system or business phone service a customer needs, Transbeam can deliver it.
Additionally, telecom agents, channel sales partners and even prospective resale/wholesale partners should be aware that we're"lit" in all the major COs ("central offices") in NYC from 97th Street down and we recently lit some COs in Boston. We'll also be lighting up southern New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Chicago within the next four quarters. We may have more lit buildings in Manhattan than any other provider.
1:59 How's Transbeam better than Broadview, PAETEC, One Communications and other competitors in your marketplaces?
Not only do we consistently beat them in installation intervals for voice, Internet and data circuits, we also consistently beat them in the VoIP arena because we can and usually do propose both hosted VoIP (using Polycom but other equipment makers work too) and premise-based VoIP (IP-PBX) for the customers instead of just trying to offer one like our competitors.
Most importantly though, regardless of whether we're proposing hoseted VoIP or a premise-based IP-PBX, we're beating Broadview, PATEC and One communications by 50% or more on price.
We recently beat these much bigger carrier on a large 170-seat hosted VoIP deal in NYC for a large non-profit organization. While our competitors were offering Yankees tickets and a 3 to 5 year ROI ("return on investment"), Transbeam was showing an ROI of 2 to 3 years. We won the deal without offering Yankees tickets.
Telecom agents, channel sales partners and wholesale/resale partners need to know that we'll install the circuit quicker than anyone else and beat our competitors on price.
4:45 How and when did Transbeam get started?
Transbeam's been providing managed enterprise voice, Internet and data solutions since 1996 and in 1998 Transbeam was one of the first to offer DSL service across the United States. In 1999 Transbeam became a certified CLEC with our own facilities- based network. We do voice over DSL and metro Ethernet over copper delivering speeds of 3 to 45 megs over existing copper lines. Our agent program started in 1998.
5:35 What will Transbeam look like in two years?
Certainly not like the other carriers in our marketplace that have recently dropped their agent programs! We'll still be serving agents with our residual and/or spiff compensation programs. We'll remain a fully dedicated voice, Internet and data managed services provider serving across the United States and especially in 8 or 9 metro areas like New York City and Boston.
