Maybe it was the warm Winter that led to an early Spring. Maybe it's just too much investor cash getting itchy after being hidden in a mattress through a long recession.
Regardless of the reason. the "urge to merge" seems to be in full blossom throughout telecom land -- and as always, Telecom Association is here to help both.
If you want to buy, if you want to get bought or if you just want to see what's needed to prepare for purchase, please click here to read our "2012 M&A Report and Preparation Checklist".
The report provides a listing of 119 mergers, acquisitions or something that looks like M&A over the past 10 years that TA thinks casts a light on "who's buying what -- and why". Each listing shows the the buyer, the buyee, the year of the merge and a link to a press report of some sort.
I've not yet added my commentary as to why any of the mergers happened the way they did -- mostly because I did want to start any fights. But please, if you're into rumor, innuendo and/or conjecture, please leave your comments.
(Also let us know if we missed adding any merger to the list.)
12 Ways to Prepare to Merge!
For those of you that simply can't commit to reading anything that doesn't have a numbered list on it, the report concludes with twelve little bits of wisdom on how an entrepreneur should prepare his or her company to be sold to a bunch of rich guys (or gals -- or anyone with a big bag of cash).
Sure a few of the twelve ideas might be a little bit obvious but hey, I've not yet sold my own company so it really a lot of speculation on my part but better than most other similar pieces that exist today. (I'm being facetious here in case you can't tell as there are no other similar M&A reports and checklists circulating that I'm aware of.)
How Would You Improve the Report and Checklist?
We think we're pretty smart -- but the really smart people are the ones that have already engaged in a successful merger.
If you're in that group please feel free to let us make you famous! Please submit a comment below on what we got right, wrong or something we need to add.
We'll be updating the report just as often as new M&A activity dictates so please share with us what you think TA's audience of 3,800 members needs to know, about what you know, about M&A.
