Just back from MicroCorp's One-on-One event in Atlanta I'm now on my way to Las Vegas to see what's going on at SMB Nation Fall, a trade show that's supposed to be full of computer equipment VARs ("value added resellers") and network systems integrators..
Really I'm looking for the fabled "equipment guys" that all the network service people are looking for so I can introduce them to TA's members so they can swap equipment and network service leads.
Or maybe I just want to drink some beer with these guys to see what makes them tick when it comes to running their businesses of taking care of their business customers' computer networks and how they decide to help their customers solve dial tone, data and Internet connectivity problems.
It's kind of like "deja vu" all over again as it was this time last year I was in Las Vegas at the MSP Alliance show on the same quest. At that "managed services provider" show last year I certainly met alot of equipment guys but left generally unconvinced that they have any real interest in selling network service in any big way in spite of "how rich" it's making all of us agents.
After spending the past 18 months trying to break the "how to sell network service through equipment guys" code I've pretty much figured out that the only way to win them over is one at a time - with a beer in your hand.
Hello, Las Vegas!
If you're at the same show email me at [email protected] so we can Meet and swap notes.
For the rest of you trying to stay happily married by staying home, I'll write the show up next week.
